So I had to wait until at least the latest court date went before I can publicly complain about these cowboys mechanic's..
Almost a year ago the bonnet release cable on my VW Passat snapped or gotten loose so my husband through it's e German car take it into a European Car Specialist place in Kerikeri (we live in Russell). Told them to open the bonnet please and they said well it's not that easy can you leave the car here for a few days - well turns out it stayed there for more than 2 weeks and after repeated calls to them what's happening they finally said well we got it open but now it won't close so we had to fit Racing Pins (??? ) . My husband went to pick up the car - they charged him $200 for the privilege to get it back (no tax invoice) and then he saw the damage. They must have let a apprentice loose on the car, somehow they used a mechanical tool to saw open the closing mechanism, bending the bonnet and when it did not close again drilled 1"holes on either side and fittet screws and aforementioned racing pins. Every person and proper mechanic is shacking their head. When I tried to contact them about the damage (repair will cost around $3000!! and meanwhile the car is not sellable) they ignored me or my e-mails. Took them to the Disputes Tribunal - they where a no show, won the case no money, went again to the courts they got summoned - did not appear again and now have a warrant out for their arrest.
Meanwhile as I wanted to sell the car last year but could not because of the damage other repairs keep popping up (general age related things which is why I wanted to sell the car then...) and I am still out of pocket with a car that is the laughing stock of my friends.
OI would expect more from a so called Eurpean Car Specialist and Mercedes Benz Authorized seller... at least man up to your mistakes but the "head in the sand"strategy is clearly not the best way to go about a valid complaint
