Stripped, wheel stud; by Artur Wiebe, Manager of Beaurepairs Whanganui.
On Monday 5th Feb 2018 at approx 08:45 am, I left my flat tyre at Beaurepairs Whanganui, I was told, leave the tyre, they were busy and to come back in an hour to get the repaired tyre fitted to my car.
On Monday 5th Feb 2018 at approx 10:00 am. I returned to Beaurepairs Whanganui where Artur Wiebe had repaired my left front tyre. Artur then, in my presence the whole time, secured the wheel to the car, using a rattle gun. His method; putting the wheel nut into the socket on the power tool and then placing the nut/socket combination onto the axle stud, and pulling the trigger to secure the nut onto the axle stud. On completing the job, Artur approached me and said, one nut won't go indicating the stud was stripped. Artur claimed, it was like that when he took the nuts off. Artur added that It was OK to drive on the wheel with 3 nuts only. I then paid and left, I note Artur didn't give me a receipt for my payment. I returned later at approx 5:00 pm looking for the manager, and found out Artur Wieb was the manager. Artur Wieb wasn't taking any responsibility for the stripped axle stud, and denied wrong doing. I asked Artur Wieb for his business card which he supplied.
I know from experience, that if as Artur Wiebe says, the axle stud, was like that when the nuts came off, he would have informed me on initial discovery of the fault, when removing the wheel, however, Artur Wiebe reassemble the wheel on to the car, and then informed me about the fault, saying someone else did it previously.
I had placed a space saver tyre onto the left front axel on Saturday late afternoon, the 3rd of Feb 2018, using hand tools and there was no cross threading and no rounded axle studs at that time and I ensured the nuts were correctly tightened.
I tried looking for a complaint section at the Beaurepairs Web site, and was disappointed to not find one, so, I found your fine Web Site, and thought to record the situation in a public forum.
Note: I've move the axle position, between axle photo's.
