Hoonhay Dementia Home
My mother has resided at Hoonhay Dementia home since March 2016. My brother has Enduring POA and the home will not communicate with me in anyway regarding mum. I wrote two emails of concern and they have replied to neither but responded to by brother. In time visiting mum - no one has ever responded to the doorbell (when I couldnt recall access code) - it is therefore almost impossible for visitors to visit if they wanted to. I have witnessed residents trying to wee in hallway rubbish bin (he couldnt find bathroom), crawling on floor crying for help, trying to climb the exterior fences repeatedly, saying they had chest pain and needed help. I have escorted numerous guests to their rooms as they were lost. The sunny rooms were like glasshouses in summer and staff dont have time to close the curtains etc. There are only 4 staff on site for 40 persons (govt requirement - minimum) - the home is split in two so 2 staff for 20 patients on each side. If the staff (who are nice) are in the lounge/dining area they cannot see the hallway/bedrooms and vice versa so do not know what the clients are up to.
