Restrictions on retailers when ordering stock
I am a small retailer in NZ and have been operating for 1 and a half years. During this time I have supplied British American Tobacco products and am building up a steady supply of regular customers who purchase these products. 2 weeks ago British American Tobacco were unable to supply any products due to a production problem, last week they informed me that they have placed restrictions on retailers purchasing their products, this restriction was less than half what I have normally been ordering. This week they informed me that I was only able to order certain brands (these brands happened to be brands I did not stock). As a small business who has been loyal to British American Tobacco and has slowly built up regular sales of their products, these restrictions and going to have a detrimental effect on my business and theirs. I just don't understand the logic. The sales person who contacts me for my order each week stated that these are the rules. There was no contact from British American Tobacco prior to this happening about these restrictions. If I treated my customers like this I would be out of business. I find their actions disgraceful.
